An Act to amend the Aged Destitute and Infirm Persons Relief Act 1966

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of the Cook Islands in Session assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:
This Act may be cited as the Aged Destitute and Infirm Persons Relief Amendment Act 1988 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Aged Destitute and Infirm Persons Relief Act 1966 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act").
Section 5 of the principal Act is amended by adding thereto the following subsection,-
"(2) The Queen's Representative may from time to time by Order in Executive Council increase the rate of pension payable pursuant to subsection (1). Every such Order shall come into force on such date as may be specified therein (whether such date be before or after the making of the Order) or, if no date is specified then on the date of the making of such Order."
Section 15 of the principal Act is amended by adding thereto the following new subsection, -
"(9) The Queen's Representative may from time to time by Order in Executive Council increase the maximum amount of relief payable pursuant to subsection (5). Every such Order shall come into force on such date as may be specified therein (whether such date be before or after the making of the Order) or, if no date is specified then on the date of the making of such Order."
This Act is administered by the Department of Internal Affairs.
