An Act to amend the Primary Produce Marketing Board Act 1970- 71.

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in Session Assembled and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Primary Produce Marketing Board Amendment Act 1977 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Primary Produce Marketing Board Act 1970-71 (hereafter referred to as "the Principal Act").

2. Interpretation

Section 2 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words "charged with the responsibility of Economic Development" and substituting the words "responsible for the Marketing Board".

3. Membership of the Board

Section 4 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by -

(a) Omitting from paragraph (a) the word "two" as substituted by section 2 of the Primary Produce Marketing Board Amendment Act (No. 2) 1972 and substituting the word "three".
(b) Omitting from subsection (4) the words "with the approval of the Minister responsible for Finance".

4. Annual Conference

Paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section 7 of the Principal Act is hereby repealed and substituted by the following paragraph:

"(a) One representative of each of the duly incorporated Growers' Association on Rarotonga, who shall be appointed at a general meeting of the respective Growers' Associations, provided that where there is less than two duly incorporated Growers' Association in any district of Rarotonga there shall be two representative of the district who shall be appointed at a general meeting of the Growers' Association or growers of the district to represent the growers and producers of controlled produce in the said district."

5. Further powers of the Board

Section 11 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:

"(e) To assist with the co-ordination of the shipping of controlled produce."

6. Officers and employees of the Board

Subsection (2) of section 12 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by omitting the words "with the approval of the Minister responsible for Finance".

This Act is administered by the Primary Produce Marketing Board.
