An Act to amend the Public Service Act 1975 and to make provision for the validating of certain acts done or purported to have been done pursuant to that Act.

BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of the Cook Islands in session assembled and by the authority of the same as follows:


1. Short Title - This Act may be cited as the Public Service Amendment Act 1980 and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Public Service Act 1975 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act".)


2. Validating of acts done or purported to have been done under the Public Service Act 1975 - The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting after Section 56 the following section:


"56A. Validating of acts done or purported to have been under the Public Service Act 1975 - Every act or action done or purported to have been done under subsection (2) of Section 24 of the principal Act before the coming into force of this provision shall be deemed to have been validly done".


3. Graded positions in the Cook Islands Public Service - The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting after Section 24 the following section:


"24A. Graded positions in the Cook Islands Public Service - For the purposes of subsection (2) Article 74B of the Cook Islands Constitution, the graded positions in the Cook Islands Public Service shall be those positions contained in the second Schedule to this Act"


4. Schedule - The principal Act is further amended by adding after the schedule thereto the following schedule:
