AN ACT TO AMEND THE STATE LANDS ACT 2001

Commencement:
2002

MADE by the Maneaba ni Maungatabu and assented to by the Beretitenti.

Short Title

1. This Act may be cited as the State Lands (Amendment) Act 2002.

Amendment of section 3

2. Section 3 of the State Lands Act 2001 (No 13 of 2001) is amended at the definition of the words "family" by –

(a) inserting the word "and" immediately after the semi colon in (iv); and

(b) inserting a new (v) as follows –

"(v) the brothers and sisters of the owner; and"; and

(c) inserting a new (vi) as follows –

"(vi) the children of those referred to in paragraph (v)."

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

The object of this short Act is to widen the definition of "family" to include brothers and sisters of the owner and the children of those brothers and sisters
