SHIPPING CORPORATION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2006

AN ACT
to amend Section 10 of the Shipping Corporation Act, 2004 (P.L. 2005-41) in order to effect changes to the appointment of the General Manager and staff of the Corporation.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE NITIJELA OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS:
Section 1. Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Shipping Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2006.
Section 2. Amendment.
(1) Section 10 of the Shipping Corporation Act, 2004 (P.L. 2005-41) is hereby amended to read as follows:
§10. Staff
(1) The Board shall appoint a General Manager in consultation with the Minister for the corporation. Such General Manager shall report directly to the Board.
(2) The General Manager, in consultation with the Board, may appoint other officers and servants to the staff of Corporation as it may deem fit.
(3) In addition to other duties provided for under this Act and any regulation promulgated herein, the General Manger shall also serve as Secretary to the Board. [P.L. 2005-41, §10.]
Section 3. Effective Date.
This Act shall take effect on the date of certification in accordance with Article IV, Section 21 of the Constitution.

(1) That Nitijela Bill No: 109 was passed by the Nitijela of the Republic of the Marshall Islands on the 12th day of October, 2006; and
(2) That I am satisfied that Nitijela Bill No.: 109 was passed in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Rules of Procedures of the Nitijela.
