Enacted by the Parliament of Nauru as follows:

1 Short title

This Act may be cited as the Refugees Convention (Amendment) Act 2015.

2 Commencement

This Act commences upon certification by the Speaker.

3 Amendment of section 43(3)

Omit

The figure “28”

Substitute

The figure “42”

4 Insert new section 43(5)

The Supreme Court may by Order, through the Registrar or a Judge, extend the period in subsection (3) as may be considered appropriate if:

(a) an application for the Order has been made in writing to the Supreme Court specifying that the appellant considers it necessary in the interest of the administration of justice to make that Order; and

(b) the Supreme Court is satisfied that it is necessary in the interests of the administration of justice to make that Order.
