WILD BIRDS PRESERVATION ORDINANCE 1937*
An Ordinance to provide for the Preservation of Wild Birds.
Short title.
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Wild Birds Preservation Ordinance 1937.*

Commencement.
2. This Ordinance shall have force and effect as on and from the thirtieth day of November, One thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven.
Repeal.
3. The Wild Birds Preservation Ordinance (No. 12 of 1924) and the Wild Birds Preservation Ordinance 1936 are hereby repealed.
Definition.
4. In this Ordinance, unless the contrary intention appears-
"Close season" means in respect to any bird specified in the First Schedule to this Ordinance the period set opposite the name of the bird in that Schedule.
Penalty for taking birds specified in Second Schedule.
5. Any person who without permission of the Administrator takes any bird specified in the Second Schedule shall be liable on conviction to a penalty not exceeding Five pounds.
Penalty for taking etc., birds specified in First Schedule.
6. Any person who-
(a) knowingly and wilfully destroys, takes, causes to be destroyed, or taken, or
(b) uses any lime, trap, snare, net, or other instrument for the purpose of destroying or taking, or
(c) has in his possession,
any bird specified in the First Schedule to this Ordinance during the period of close season set opposite the name of the bird shall be liable on the first conviction to a penalty not exceeding One pound and on a subsequent conviction to a penalty not exceeding Five pounds or imprisonment not exceeding fourteen days or both.
Taking, etc., eggs of bird.
7. Any person who takes or destroys, or has in his possession any eggs of the birds specified in the First Schedule to this Ordinance during the period of close season set opposite the name of the birds shall be liable on the first conviction to a penalty not exceeding One pound and on a subsequent conviction to a penalty not exceeding Five pounds or imprisonment not exceeding fourteen days or both.
