PENSIONS AND BENEFITS REGULATIONS 1998

PURSUANT to section 19 of the Pensions and Benefits Act 1991 the Cabinet makes the following regulations:

1 Citation

(1) These regulations may be cited as the Pensions and Benefits Regulations 1998.

2 Commencement

(1) These regulations are to be taken to have commenced on 1 July 1997.

3 Interpretation

(1) In these Regulations "Act" means the Pensions and Benefits Act 1991.

4 Rate of pension

(1) The rate of pension payable under section 4 of the Act is -

(a) in the case of a person who has not attained the age of 70 years - $2003 a year; and

(b) in any other case - $2132 a year.

5 Rate of welfare benefit

(1) The maximum rate of benefit for the purpose of section 13 of the Act is -

(a) in the case of a person considered by the Welfare Committee to be a person with a severe disability - $2132 a year; and

(b) in any other case - $1872 a year.

6 Revocation

(1) The Pensions and Benefits Regulations 1997 are revoked
