Lawyers (Examination) Regulation 1992
MADE by the Head of State, acting with, and in accordance with, the advice of the National Executive Council under the Lawyers Act 1986.

In this Regulation, unless the contrary intention appears–
“applicant” means a person applying for admission to practice under the Act.
For the purposes of Section 25(5) of the Act the Attorney-General may require an applicant to sit examinations in the law relating to–
(a) the Constitution of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea; and
(b) land in Papua New Guinea; and
(c) custom in Papua New Guinea.
The Attorney-General may from time to time request such persons and institutions as he believes possess the required qualifications to prepare examinations under and for the purposes of this Regulation and may adopt those examinations under this Regulation.
Examinations adopted by the Attorney-General under Section 3 shall be the set examinations for the purposes of the Act.
An application to sit examinations shall–
(a) be in Form 1; and
(b) be delivered to the offices of the Society; and
(c) be accompanied by a fee of K250.
Upon receipt of an application in Form 1 together with the prescribed fee the Society shall make arrangements for the applicant to sit examinations as soon as practicable and shall notify the applicant of the date, time and place for the sitting of examinations.
An applicant shall sit examinations within the country.
As soon as practicable following the sitting of examinations an applicant shall be notified of the result of the examinations in Form 2.
Nothing in this Regulation prevents an applicant sitting examinations on more than one occasion.
