PAPUA NEW GUINEA


CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT NO. 39 (CALLING, ETC. OF THE PARLIAMENT) LAW 2013.

ARRANGEMENT OF SECTION.


Calling, etc., (Amendment of Section 124).


Constitutional Amendment No. 39 (Calling, Etc. of the Parliament) Law 2013.


Being a law to alter the provision of the Constitution relating to calling, etc. of the Parliament,


MADE by the National Parliament.


CALLING, ETC., (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 124).


Section 124 of the Constitution is amended in Subsection (1) by repealing the words and figure "not less frequently than three times in each period of 12 months, and, in principle, not less than nine weeks in each such period" and replacing them with the following:


"not less than 40 days in each period of 12 months".

CERTIFICATE UNDER SECTION 14.


I, THEO ZURENUOC, Speaker of the National Parliament hereby certify that the requirements of Section 14(1), (2) and (3) of the Constitution were complied with in respect of the Constitutional Amendment No. 39 (Calling, Etc. of the Parliament Law) 2013 and that the law was made by the National Parliament as follows:


(a) the first vote was taken on 17 July, 2013 when the number of seats in the National Parliament were 111 and those voting for the proposal were 87 and those voting against the proposal were 3; and


(b) the second vote was taken on 19 September, 2013 when the number of seats in the National Parliament were 111 and those voting for the proposal were 81 and those voting against the proposal were 2.
