AN ACT

entitled

Forestry (Amendment) Act 2019,

Being an Act to amend the Forestry Act 1991 to provide for management levies and for related purposes,

MADE by the National Parliament to come into operation in accordance with a notice in the National Gazette, by the Head of State, acting with, and in accordance with, the advice of the Minister.

MANAGEMENT LEVY (AMENDMENT OF SECTION 121).
The Principal Act is amended by repealing Section 121 and replacing it with the following new section:

“121. MANAGEMENT LEVY.

(1) There shall be a management levy payable on the production of timber or forest produce taken or deemed to be taken by the holder of a timber permit, a timber authority or a timber licence, for the purposes of financing the management and operations of the Authority.

(2) The Head of State, acting on advice, shall prescribe in the Regulation -

(a) a levy, known as a management levy and

payable at the prescribed rate, on all timber or forest produce; and

(b) the different rates of management levy for

different types and grades of timber or forest produce; and

(c) for the method and manner of calculation,

collection and payment of management levy.”.
