AN ACT
entitled
Fire Service (Amendment) Act 1993,
Being an Act to amend the Fire Service Act (Chapter 64),
MADE by the National Parliament.
Section 1 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the definition of "building" the following:-
"'Chief Fire Officer' means the Chief Fire Officer appointed under Section 4;".
Section 4 of the Principal Act is repealed and is replaced with the following:-
"4. CHIEF FIRE OFFICER.
The Head of State, acting on advice, shall, by notice in the National Gazette, appoint a suitably qualified person to be the Chief Fire Officer for the purposes of this Act.".
The Department Head who, immediately prior to the coming into operation of this Act, held the office of Chief Fire Officer, shall, notwithstanding the provisions of this Act, continue to hold that office on and after the coming into operation of this Act until an appointment to the office is made in accordance with the provision as amended by this Act.
