AN ACT

entitled

The University of Goroka (Amendment) Act 2009,

Being an Act to repeal the The University of Goroka Act 1997 and for related purposes,

MADE by the National Parliament to come into operation in accordance with a notice in the National Gazette by the Head of State acting with and in accordance with, the advice of the Minister.

1. THE COUNCIL (AMMENDMENT OF SECTION 9).

Section 9(1) of the Principal Act is amended –

(a) by repealing Paragraph (e) and replacing it with the following:

"(e) one Vice-Chancellor from another University appointed by Council; and"; and

(b) in Paragraph (g) by repealing the words "two members" and replacing them with the following words:

"one member; and"; and

(c) by repealing Paragraphs (i),(j) and (k) and substituting the following:

"(i) one Dean elected by the Academic Board; and"

"(j) one Principal of the College elected by the Academic Board; and"; and

"(k) one graduate not being an employee or a currently registered student of the University appointed by the Council; and"; and

(d) by repealing Paragraph (n) and replacing it with the following new paragraph:

"(n) one person nominated by the Minister and appointed by the Council.".
