SUMMARY OFFENCES (AMENDMENT) ORDINANCE 2009

An ordinance to amend the Summary Offences Ordinance, cap. 5

Citation and Commencement

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Summary Offences (Amendment) Ordinance 2009 and shall come into force on the 28th day after it is made.

Section 23 deleted and replaced

2. Section 23 of the Summary Offences Ordinance is deleted and the following inserted in its place:

Failure to ensure attendance of child at school

23. Any person who

(a) is the parent or guardian of a child who resides on Pitcairn Island and has attained the age of 5 years but not yet attained the age of 16 years; and

(b) without just cause, refuses or neglects to keep that child in regular attendance at the public school on Pitcairn Island;

shall be guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding $200
