CHAPTER 21 ADULTERY AND FORNICATION

Act No. 7 of 1919

AN ACT RELATING TO ADULTERY AND FORNICATION

[24th November, 1919]

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as The Adultery and Fornication Act.

Adultery or fornication with unmarried woman

2. (1) Whoever shall commit adultery or fornication with any unmarried woman under the age of 18 years shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $40 and in default of payment to a period of imprisonment not exceeding 10 months.

Nine-tenths of fine to be paid to complainant.

(2) Proceedings in respect of this offence shall be taken in the Magistrate's Court by the parent or guardian of the unmarried woman and nine-tenths of the fine paid by the offender shall be paid out to the complainant by the Treasury.
