AN ACT RELATING TO BAZAARS AND CONCERTS
Commencement [13th September, 1957]
1 Short title.
This Act may be cited as the Bazaars and Concerts Act.
2 Permit to hold bazaar or concert.
(1) Application for permission to hold a bazaar or a concert shall in their respective districts be made in writing in the first instance to the Minister of Police in Nuku'alofa, the Governor of Ha'apai, the Governor of Vava'u, or the respective representative of the Government at 'Eua or Niuatoputapu.
(2) The Minister, Governor or representative to whom any application shall be made may upon payment of the proper fee issue a permit in the form in the Schedule.
3 Fee.
The fee for a permit issued under this Act shall be $4 per day or any part thereof.
4 Permit not to be transferred.
A permit so issued shall be in the name of the person who shall apply for the same and shall not be transferable to any other person unless authorised in writing by the Minister, Governor or officer who issued the same.
5 Offence.
(1) Any person who shall hold or conduct or assist in the holding of a bazaar or a concert for which no permit has been issued as aforesaid shall be guilty of an offence and be liable to a fine not exceeding $50.
(2) The Court having jurisdiction in respect of offences against this Act shall be the Magistrates' Court. (Amended by Act 7 of 1988)
