WHALING INDUSTRY

AN ACT TO REGULATE THE WHALING INDUSTRY
[3rd July, 1935]
Short Title.
1. This Act may be cited as The Whaling Industry Act.
Wounding etc., of whales prohibited.
2. The wounding, capture, taking or killing of whales of all species is prohibited unless approved by Privy Council in accordance with section 3. (Substituted by Act 10 of 1979.)
Regulations.
3. His Majesty in Council may make regulations in respect of any exceptions to the prohibition of capture, taking or killing of any species of whales.* (Substituted by Act 10 of 1979.)
* No such regulations had been made as at 31.12.1988.
Penalty.
4. Every person who commits an offence against this Act is liable to a fine, not exceeding $500 for every whale affected or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years. (Substituted by Act 10 of 1979 and Amended by Act 10 of 1988)
