CIVIL LAW (AMENDMENT) ACT 2003

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE CIVIL LAW ACT
[26th of August, 2003]
BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:-
1. (1) This Act maybe cited as the Civil Law (Amendment) Act 2003.
(2) The Civil Law Act (Cap. 25) is in the Act referred to as the Principal Act.
2. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by –
(i) deleting the comma after the word "equity"; and
(ii) deleting the words "together with statutes of general application".
3. Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by-
(i) deleting the comma after the word "England" and substituting therefore the word "and"; and
(ii) deleting the words "and the statutes of general application".
4. Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by –
(i) deleting the comma after the word "England" (first appearing) and substituting therefore the word "or";
(ii) deleting the comma and the words ", or an enactment contained in any statutes of general application"; and
(iii) Deleting the words "principle, rule or enactment" and substituting therefore the words "principle or rule".
Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 26th day of August, 2003
