AN ACT

TO AMEND THE ELECTRICITY ACT 2007

BE IT ENACTED by the King and the Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Electricity (Amendment) Act 2008.

(2) The Electricity Act 2007 is referred to in this Act as the Principal Act.

2. Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the following word and its definition in the appropriate place:

" "electricity" means all electricity except electricity generated from a renewable energy source which has not been converted to alternate current;

"renewable energy" means any form of energy that is not derived from fossil fuels and specifically excludes energy from petroleum products and energy from coal products;"
