EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (AMENDMENT) ACT 2014

AN ACT TO AMEND THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACT 2007

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1 Short Title

(1) This Act may be cited as the Emergency Management (Amendment) Act 2014.

(2) In this Act, the Emergency Management Act 2007 as amended, shall be referred to as the Principal Act.

2 Section 2 amended

Section 2 of the Principal Act is amended in the definition of "Chief Executive Officer" by deleting the word "works" and replacing it with the words "emergency management".

3 Section 11 amended

Section 11 of the Principal Act is amended by repealing paragraphs (d), (e), (f), (g), (i) and (k) and replacing them with the following –

"(d) Chief Executive Officer responsible for finance and national planning;

(e) Chief Executive Officer responsible for agriculture, food and forests;

(f) Chief Executive Officer for Health;

(g) Commissioner of Tonga Police;

(i) Chief Executive Officer responsible for lands;

(k) Chief Executive Officer responsible for education.".

4 Section 14 amended

Section 14 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting paragraphs (c) and replacing them with the following –

"(c) Commissioner of Tonga Police;".

5 Section 17 amended

Section 17 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting paragraphs (c) and replacing them with the following –

"(c) Chief Executive Officer responsible for finance and national planning;".
