GOVERNMENT (AMENDMENT) ACT 2002

AN ACT TO AMEND THE GOVERNMENT ACT

TAUFA'AHAU TUPOU IV,
17th March, 2004

BE IT ENACTED by the King and the Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:
1 Short title and commencement
(1) This Act may be cited as The Government (Amendment) Act 2002.
(2) The Government Act (Cap. 3) as amended is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
(3) This Act shall come into force on the same date as the Public Service Act 2002 comes into force.
2 Repeal of sections 17(4), 20 and 25
The Principal Act shall be amended by repealing sections 17(4), 20 and 25.
3 Savings
(1) All subsidiary legislation made under the Principal Act and in force immediately before the coming into force of this Act, so far as it is consistent with the provisions of the Public Service Act 2002, shall continue in force as if made under that Act.
(2) A disciplinary case, an appeal or action before the Supreme Court pursuant to the Principal Act pending immediately before the commencement of the Public Service Act 2002, may be continued, and shall be heard as if the provision in the Principal Act had continued in force.
