LICENCES (AMENDMENT) ACT 1993

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE LICENCES ACT

[2nd November, 1993.]

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Licences (Amendment) Act 1993.

(2) The Licences Act (Cap. 47), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the following as subsection (4):

"(4) (a) The Privy Council may by Order-in-Council from time to time fix the maximum quantity of any produce or commodity that may be exported in such period as the Council shall deem fit.

(b) If a maximum quantity is fixed under paragraph (a) of this subsection the Minister of Labour Commerce and Industries shall exercise discretion in allotting such quantity to licensees."

2. 'Oku fakatonutonu 'a e Kupu 5 'o e Tefito 'i Lao 'aki hono fakahuu atu 'eni ke hoko ko e Kupu si'i (4):

"(4) (a) 'E ngofua ki he Fakataha Tokoni mei he taimi ki he taimi 'i ha Fekau 'i he Fakataha Tokoni ke ne fokotu'u 'a e fika fakangatangata 'o e lahi 'o ha fa'ahinga fua 'o e fonua pe koloa 'e ngofua ke fakahuu ki tu'apule'anga 'i ha vaha'a taimi 'oku pehee 'e he Fakataha Tokoni 'oku fe'unga.

(b) Ka fokotu'u 'a e fika fakangatangata 'o e lahi ko is 'i he palakalafi (a) 'o e kupu si'i ni kuo pau ki he Minisita ki he Ngaahi Ngaue 'a e Kakai, Fefakatau'aki mo e Ngaahi Ngaue'anga ke ne ngaue'aki 'ene fakakaukau fakapotopoto 'a'ana ki hono vahevahe 'a e lahi ko is ki he kau ma'u laiseni.
