LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY (AMENDMENT) ACT 1992

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ACT

[19th October, 1992.]

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Legislative Assembly (Amendment) Act 1992.

(2) The Legislative Assembly Act (Cap. 4), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 11 of the Principal Act is amended -

(i) by deleting the words "while a member" appearing in lines 1 and 2 of subsection (1);

(ii) in the English version only by deleting the word "such" appearing in line 4 of subsection (1) and substituted by the word "sum";

(iii) by re-numbering subsections (2) and (3) as subsections (3) and (4) respectively;

(iv) by inserting the following as subsection (2):

"(2) When a member of the Legislative Assembly dies, the Legislative Assembly shall bear the cost of medical and embalming expenses. Where the deceased member's body is returned to his permanent home the Legislative Assembly shall also bear the cost of the return of the body and the travel expenses of the spouse and one other person nominated by the spouse to attend the funeral."

(i) 'aki 'a hono tamate'i 'o e ngaahi lea "lolotonga 'oku ne Memipa" 'oku ha 'i he laine 1 mo e 2 'o e kupusi'i (1);

(ii) 'i he lea Faka-Pilitania pe 'aki 'a hono tamate'i 'o e fo'i lea ko e "such" 'oku ha 'i he laine 4 'o e kupusi'i (1) pea fetongi is 'aki 'a e fo'i lea ko e "sum";

(iii) 'aki 'a hono toe fakafika 'a e kupusi'i (2) mo e (3) ko e kupusi'i (3) mo e (4) 'i hono fakatauhoa;

(iv) 'aki 'a hono fakahu atu 'eni ko e kupusi'i (2):

"(2) 'O ka pekia ha memipa 'o e Fale Alea, kuo pau ke fua 'e he Fale Alea 'a e ngaahi totongi faka-falemahaki pea mo fakatolonga.
