Legislative Assembly (Amendment) Act 1993

AN ACT
TO AMEND THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY ACT

[17th August, 1993]

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Legislative Assembly (Amendment) Act 1993.

(2) The Legislative Assembly Act (Cap 4), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 12 of the Principal Act is amended by -

(i) numbering that provision as subsection (1);

(ii) inserting the following as subsection (2);

"(2) An officer who resigns from the civil service to join the permanent staff of the Legislative Assembly shall have the period in which he was a civil servant taken into account in the computation of benefits given under sections 10 and 11.

Provided that this subsection shall not apply to any officer who has received a pension or gratuity under the Pensions Act."

(ii) hono fakahu atu 'eni ke kupusi 'i (2);

"(2) Ka 'i ai ha 'ofisa 'e fakafisi mei he ngaue fakapule'anga koe'uhi ke ne kau 'i he kau ngaue tu'uma'u 'a e Fale Alea kuo pau ke fakakau 'a e vaha'a taimi na'a ne ngaue fakapule'anga ai 'i hono fika'i 'o e ngaahi monu'ia 'oku foaki 'e he kupu 10 mo e 11.
