AN ACT TO AMEND THE MAGISTRATE'S COURT ACT (CAP. 11)

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1 Short Title and Interpretation

(1) This Act may be cited as the Magistrates Court (Amendment) Act 2015.

(2) In this Act, the Magistrate's Court Act (Cap. 11) shall be referred to as the Principal Act.

2 Section 75 amended

Section 75 of the Principal Act is amended –

(a) in sub-section (1) by deleting the number "10" and replacing it with "28"; and

(b) by inserting the following proviso after sub-section (1) –

"Provided that the 28 days within which the notice of appeal shall be given, may be extended with leave of the Supreme Court.".
