NATIONALITY (AMENDMENT) ACT 2000

AN ACT TO AMEND THE NATIONALITY ACT

BE IT ENACTED by the King and Legislative Assembly of Tonga in the Legislature of the Kingdom as follows:

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Nationality (Amendment) Act 2000, and shall come into force on 1 July 2001.

(2) The Nationality Act (Cap. 59), as amended, is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2. Section 2(d) and 3(2) of the Principal Act are amended by deleting the words "Minister of Police" and substituting therefor "Minister of Foreign Affairs".

Passed by the Legislative Assembly this 4 day of September, 2000.
