CHAPTER 11
MAGISTRATES' COURTS
SECTIONS 6 and 97 - Magistrates' Courts Rules
Made by the Judge of the Supreme Court on 30th August, 1956

1. These Rules may be cited as the Magistrates' Courts Rules.
2. Sittings of the Court at Nuku'alofa (Tongatapu) Lifuka (Ha'apai) Neiafu (Vava'u) Angaha (Niuafo'ou) and Hihifo (Niuatoputapu) may be held at the hour of 10 a.m. on every week day not being a public holiday or a Saturday.
3. In each of the above mentioned districts Civil summonses shall be made returnable on Monday of any week and Criminal summonses on another available day of the week.
4. Sittings of the Court at 'Eua and at Ha'afeva Nomuka Fotuha'a (Ha'apai) may be held at such times as shall be determined from time to time by the Magistrate presiding in the district in which each sitting is proposed to be held and all summonses whether Civil or Criminal shall be made returnable on the dates on which they are to be heard.
5. Sittings of the Magistrates' Courts in addition to those held at Nuku'alofa (Tongatapu) shall be held at Mu'a (Tongatapu) at the hour of 10 a.m. on every Wednesday and such other days as the Magistrate presiding shall determine from time to time. (Inserted by G.S. 1/65.)
