ELECTRICITY CABLE
(RESTRICTION ON PASSAGE OF VESSELS THEREUNDER)
To forbid the passage of certain vessels under an electricity-supply cable.
1. Restriction on passage of vessels exceeding 62 feet in height
No vessel of which the maximum overall height unloaded above the surface of the water exceeds 62 feet (19 metres) shall attempt to pass underneath the electricity-supply cable suspended between Iririki Island and Port Vila from the points shown in the map set out in the Schedule except in the channel authorised for the purpose and marked on the said map.
2. Prohibition on passage of vessels exceeding 75 feet in height
No vessel with an overall height, calculated as aforesaid, exceeding 75 feet (23 metres) shall attempt to pass under the said cable.
3. Offences and penalties
The master of any vessel acting in contravention of the foregoing sections shall be guilty of an offence and on conviction therefor
shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding VT 10,000 and shall, in addition, bear the cost of any damage that may be done to the
said cable.
