RULES FOR LICENSING OF SATELLITE DISHES AND ANTENNAS

The Rules to prescribe for the licensing of satellite dishes and antennas.
1. Prescribed fees for categories of satellite dish owners

(e) | Resort, Motel or Rent House with connections to more than 10 but less than 50 rooms | VT 30,000 |
(f) | Hotel with connections to 50 rooms or more | VT 50,000 |
(g) | Telecom Vanuatu Limited (TVL) | VT 150,000 |
2. Registration by satellite dish and antenna owners
All satellite dish and antenna owners must provide details of ownership and the equipment types to the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television
Corporation for registration.
3. Payment of license fees
(1) The Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation must have invoiced a satellite dish and antenna owner for a licence fee in
accordance with client data before the owner pays the licence fees to the Corporation.
(2) Despite the provisions of subsection (1), payment of licence fees for 2005 must be completed by 30 June 2005.
Despite the provisions of subsection (1), payments of licence fees for subsequent years must be completed by 30 March each following year.
Payments can be made to the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation cashier in Port Vila and can be paid in cash or by cheque payable to the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation.
4. Dealers of satellite dishes or any signal receiving apparatus
(1) All satellite and antenna dealers or shops that sell satellite dishes and antennas must –
have a database or inventory of all the apparatus received and sold; and
provide to the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation all information on new satellite dishes and antennas purchased including the:
name of the purchaser; and
type of equipment purchased; and
date of purchase.
The Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation, or any officer authorised by the corporation, may at all reasonable times inspect a dealer’s satellite dish and antenna database or inventory.
Failure to comply with Rules
Any person who fails to comply with the provisions of these Rules will be dealt with according to section 27 of the Broadcasting and Television Act [Cap. 214].
