NO. 7 OF 1990

A Bill to amend the Business Licence Act [CAP. 173] and to provide for matters incidental thereto.
BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:-
AMENDMENT OF [CAP. 173]
1. The Business Licence Act [CAP. 173] is amended as follows:-
(a) In section 5 by the addition of the following new subsection immediately after subsection (1):
"(1A) Notwithstanding subsection (1), no licence shall be issued to or renewed in favour of any person required to register a business name under the Business Names Act unless that person satisfies the licensing authority that the business name is registered under that Act and that he is registered as the user thereof.";
(b) In section 19 by deleting the words "excise duty, the Minister" and substituting therefor the words "excise duty, or being a person required to register a business name under the Business Names Act he obtains the issue or renewal of a licence when the business name is not registered or he is not the registered user thereof, the Minister".
COMMENCEMENT
2. This Act shall come into force on the day of its publication in the Gazette.
