PARLIAMENT (MEMBERS’ EXPENSES AND ALLOWANCES)
(AMENDMENT) ACT NO. 24 OF 2008

An Act to amend the Parliament (Members’ Expenses and Allowances) Act [CAP 109].

Be it enacted by the President and Parliament as follows:

1. Amendment
   

The Parliament (Members’ Expenses and Allowances) Act [CAP 109] is amended as set out in the Schedule.

2. Commencement
   

This Act commences on the day on which it is published in the Gazette.

SCHEDULE

AMENDMENTS OF THE PARLIAMENT (MEMBERS’ EXPENSES AND ALLOWANCES) ACT [CAP 109]

1 After section 6

Insert

“6A Increase in total amount of gratuity

A Member of Parliament is to receive a 25% increase on the total amount of gratuity payable under section 6.

6B Review of section 6A

The increase under section 6A may only be reviewed by Parliament after a period of 5 years from the date on which this Act takes effect.”
