ROAD TRAFFIC (AMENDMENT) ACT
NO. 18 OF 1992

To amend the Road Traffic Act [CAP. 29].

BE IT ENACTED by the President and Parliament as follows:-

AMENDMENT OF SECTION 33 OF CHAPTER 29

1. Section 33 of the Road Traffic Act [CAP. 29], in this Act referred to as the "principal Act" as amended is further amended-

(a) in subsection (4) by deleting the figure '1%' and substituting the figure '2%' wherever occurring;

(b) by inserting after subsection (4) the following new subsections:-

"(5) With effect from the relevant date no motor vehicle shall be registered under subsection (1) unless such vehicle is constructed so as to be steered from the left side of that vehicle."

"(6) For the purpose of subsection (5), 'relevant date' means a date specified by the Minister by order published in the Gazette."

AMENDMENT OF SCHEDULE 10 TO THE PRINCIPAL ACT

2. Schedule 10 to the principal Act, as amended, is further amended -

(1) in paragraph 1 -

(a) in subparagraph (a) -

(i) by deleting the figure '4,000' in item (i) and substituting the figure '6,000';

(ii) by deleting the figure '6,000' in item (ii) and substituting the figure '8,000';

(b) in subparagraph (b) -

(i) by deleting the figure '7,000' in item (i) and substituting the figure '10,000';

(ii) by deleting the figure '10,000' in item (ii) and substituting the figure '13,000';

(iii) by deleting the figure '14,000' in item (iii) and substituting the figure '17,500';

(iv) by deleting the figure '18,000' in item (iv) and substituting the figure '22,500';

(v) by deleting the figure '20,000' in item (v) and substituting the figure '25,000';

(c) in subparagraph (c)-

(i) by deleting the figure '7,500' in item (i) and substituting the figure '9,500';

(ii) by deleting the figure '15,000' in item (ii) and substituting the figure '19,000';

(iii) by deleting the figure '22,500' in item (iii) and substituting the figure '28,000';

(iv) by deleting the figure '30,000' in item (iv) and substituting the figure '35,000';

(v) by deleting the figure '40,000' in item (v) and substituting the figure '50,000';

(vi) by deleting the figure '50,000' in item (vi) and substituting the figure '60,000';

(2) in paragraph 2 by deleting the figure '20,000' and substituting the figure '25,000'.

COMMENCEMENT

3. This Act shall come into force on the 1st day of January, 1993.
